Originally, the Analyzer robot was meant to be two robots, named Migi and Hidari. They could perform the job of two people, and whenever it was important they could combine their bodies into one. However, this was rejected in favour of having a single robot. In retrospect, Leiji Matsumoto says it was a relief as when Guerre stellari (1977) came out there would have been unfavourable comparison with R2-D2 and C-3PO.
