In Blue Bloods: Heroes (2022), Frank reassigned an officer who lives in Staten Island to work on the other side of the city, Fleet Services in Queens. "Freeway Therapy", is a slang term for a punitive measure assigned by a Commanding Officer to a subordinate, such that an assignment places the subordinate with a burdensome commuting time from their residence. The purpose of which is to give the subordinate an opportunity to reflect on their questionable choice(s) while serving the department. In New York City, there is a similar concept called "Toll Therapy" ("Highway Therapy"), which is not only time-consuming but also takes a bite out of your paycheck, by tossing money away to pay for bridges and tunnels to get to your destination.
