Quasimodo breaks the fourth wall twice in the film. When he goes back into the cathedral after the Festival of Fools he closes the front door which causes the scene to fade to black before it cuts to Esmeralda and Djali disguised as an old man. Later in the film he speaks directly to the audience on why he should rescue Esmeralda after Phoebus leaves due to his jealousy that Esmeralda and Phoebus are in love, although it is also possible he was talking to his gargoyle friends. Clopin also breaks the fourth wall by speaking directly to the audience when he asks why Quasimodo and Phoebus didn't say they were allies with Esmeralda after the latter saves them from being executed. Frollo to an extent also does this. After his song "Hellfire" the scene again fades to black before it cuts to his carriage arriving at Notre Dame the next morning.
