In Season 1, episode 3, Stranger Things: Chapter Three: Holly, Jolly (2016), when Hopper (David Harbour) is doing research at the library, Dr. Brenner (Matthew Modine) is associated with the MKULTRA project. MKULTRA was a real project that was undertaken by the CIA, researching telekinesis and other forms of mind control.
