The Boy appears to be wearing a version of the popular Little Lord Fauntleroy suit. While missing the characteristic lace collar, black or dark blue velvet suits with matching velvet knee pants and white shirts were the height of child fashion for boys aged 3-8 years old after the 1886 publication of the children's novel "Little Lord Fauntleroy".
