During the promotional tour for the film in Rome Audie Murphy decided to play a prank at a party hosted by some upper class people. He used toothpaste to make himself foam at the mouth and told people that he had caught some mysterious Illness while filming in Vietnam and it caused a minor health panic with his hosts and the other attendants of the party.
