J.K. Simmons was keen to return as J. Jonah Jameson from the Sam Raimi trilogy, but the producers decided it was breaking franchise time-lines. However, Simmons reprised his role as Jameson in 2019 in the MCU film Spider-Man: Far from Home (2019) and then a larger role in the end of Holland's trilogy, Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021).
