This is the only Inspector Clousseau film in which the character does not have the outrageously exaggerated French accent making him difficult to understand. It is also the only one without any of the recurring characters of Commissioner Dreyfus, Dreyfus assistant Francois, and Clousseau's servant Cato. All three of these characters and Clousseau's exaggerated French accent were added in the second Clousseau film Uno sparo nel buio (1964) and subsequently became staples of all the later films.
