Steven Spielberg visited Elstree Studios to prepare to film I predatori dell'arca perduta (1981), and got to meet Stanley Kubrick, leading to a twenty year friendship between the two. In addition to taking over A.I. - Intelligenza artificiale (2001) after Kubrick's death, Spielberg went on to cast Wolf Kahler (from Barry Lyndon (1975)) in Raiders, and Philip Stone in Indiana Jones e il tempio maledetto (1984). He also makes reference to this film in Jurassic Park (1993) and Ready Player One (2018).
