When the film got close to wrapping, it still didn't have a title. So, writer/director Cameron Crowe put out a "suggestion box" for the cast and crew to submit their last minute ideas. Jimmy Fallon ended up submitting 25 ideas: I'm With the Band, Set to Music, The Kid's With Us, The Volleyball Incident, Gather No Moss, Vinyl Days, Pages, The Vinyl Years, Writing On Rock, The B-Sides, What Music Can Do, Vinyl Reality, Rock And Roll, The Flip Side, I'm On the List, The 33 1/3 Incher, The Days of Vinyl, Groupies LP's & Nipsey's, Doin' It, Nothin' Up My Sleeve, Doin' It 2 - The Neal Preston Story, Educated, Doin' It 3 - This Time It's Personal, The Kelly Curtis Chronicles: Episode 1 - In Which We Find Out Kelly's Secret Identity, and Herman Isn't In This. While none were used, Crowe later said on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon (2014) that Vinyl Days was his favorite.
