When Alejandro (Antonio Banderas) enters the training circle, he makes a swirling circular move with his sword. This was the signature move of Errol Flynn. Bob Anderson, who was the fencing instructor for this film, worked with Flynn in Il principe di Scozia (1953) and Il maestro di Don Giovanni (1954).
