The final duel between Amleth and Fjölnir was originally supposed to feature both Alexander Skarsgård and Claes Bang completely naked. Director Robert Eggers felt that this would be the most authentic way to depict the duel, but the studio wouldn't allow full frontal male nudity due to rating restrictions, which is why the fight happens mostly in shadows.
