In Top Gun (1986), Maverick buzzes the tower twice over Air Boss Johnson (Duke Stroud), the commander aboard the USS Enterprise vessel as well at the Miramar Naval Air Station. In this film, Maverick buzzes the tower again when he returns in the stolen F-14 plane over Admiral Beau "Cyclone" Simpson (Jon Hamm), whose appointment (Commander Navy Air Force) is unofficially known as Navy Air Boss.
