Thus far, Homeworld's caste hierarchy operates thus (lowest to highest): Pearls (hand servants), Rubies/Topazes (bodyguards), Bismuths (builders), Peridots (technicians), Jaspers/Amethysts/Rose Quartzes (soldiers), Sapphires (clairvoyants), Diamonds (rulers). The only Gem missing from this caste system is Lapis Lazuli, whose confirmed role is some kind of "terraformer", though is unclear exactly where Lapis gems rank in the hierarchy.
