In the movie, Killer (Oliver Jackson-Cohen) always requests a single dollar as payment for his services. This is not an uncommon practice in the criminal underworld. It is usually undertaken by killers who have little need of money and are more interested in fighting and subsequently killing especially challenging opponents. The $1 payment is merely a means of protecting themselves from being turned into the police by their former employers since the charge for carrying out a hit is less than the charge for ordering one. In some more sociopathic cases it can also serve as a trophy (as is seemingly the case in this movie evidenced by the wall of framed dollar bills).
