Deleted scenes from the script depict the bartender drugging a shot he passes along to Freddie when he first sneaks onto the yacht before meeting The Master. This explains his grogginess and confusion when he is awoken the next morning. Other deleted scenes from this part of the film include shots of a starving Freddie ravenously eating leftover food while sneaking through the yacht, which Dodd refers to later when he accuses Freddie of "skulking and sneaking."
