For the "Letterman" sketches, Gene Wilder and Zero Mostel were so excited to be working with each other again that they recorded their dialogue together, a rarity in animation. The two worked together in one film during the show's run, Il rinoceronte (1974). Wilder was devastated when Mostel died in 1977, soon after the show ended production.
