The film has its roots in Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. At 16:30 Joe is glancing at a copy of the book. On the cover one can see the image of Colin Firth, along with images of other cast members of the miniseries, Orgoglio e pregiudizio (1995). This is the only time that Tom Hanks and Firth have appeared in the same movie.
