The animated film Balto (1995) told the same story but Togo was the lead sled dog for most of the journey. Balto finished the last quarter but gets most of the credit, hence the UNTOLD true story. With Disney's trend of producing live-action remakes of their animated films, it has been playfully commented that this film is effectively Disney's remake of that animated film by Amblination.
