When the Ghostbusters torch passed to Jason Reitman, he knew he wanted to feature and pay tribute to Harold Ramis, aka Egon Spengler, the socially awkward 'brains' of the original Ghostbusters (Acchiappafantasmi) (1984), by giving him a posthumous cameo.. "I looked at photographs of Harold in his later years, just before he passed," said Arjen Tuiten. "I just started doing concepts, about five or six of them. Once we found the right expression, Violet Ramis, Harold's eldest daughter, saw it, and everybody signed off on it."
