There are at least two references to director Ridley Scott's earlier film, Hannibal, in this film. The first, and most obvious reference, is that the statue of David is prominently featured in both films' opening sequences. Also, the choral parts of the score to Alien Covenant appear to be distorted versions of a choral piece from Hannibal, most prominently used when Clarice Starling arrives at Mason Verger's manor for the first time.
