Possibly only by coincidence, the film features a few sequences that are reminiscent of the Roger Moore era James Bond series: there is an action sequence which finds Jason Statham on the roof of a Sugarloaf Mountain cable car in Rio like there was in Moonraker - Operazione spazio (1979); an establishing shot of the same exotic islands in Thailand where Scaramanga had his hideout in Agente 007 - L'uomo dalla pistola d'oro (1974); and there is a shootout in a submarine pen as well as an aquatic escape pod just as in La spia che mi amava (1977).
