Director Ruben Fleischer said that he was inspired to make Benvenuti a Zombieland (2009) after seeing L'alba dei morti dementi (2004). The scene in Zombieland: Double Tap where Columbus and Tallahassee meet their 'counterparts' Albuquerque and Flagstaff may have been inspired by a scene in Shaun of the Dead, where Shaun's group of zombie apocalypse survivors meets another group that consists of remarkably similar characters.
