Linda Evans missed two episodes at the beginning of the ninth (final) season and then left the show altogether midway through the season. Joan Collins also sat out nearly half of the episides of season nine, claiming she only agreed to appear in the ninth season at all because she would have more free time. In actual fact, the show's budget had been cut so much by then that the producers simply couldn't afford to have her in every episode at her existing salary.
