When escaping from underwater chase, Agent XXX activates the defense mechanism of the Lotus submarine and releases dark substances from the exhaust pipes of the car to create a smoke screen and obscures the chasers. This is a similar technique cephalopods use for self-defense. Cephalopods, while under attack, release ink from the ink sacs to create diffuse cloud and to obscures predators, allowing them to make a rapid retreat by jetting away.
