Many people have said that the creature should be referred to as "the monster" because Frankenstein was the name of the creator. However, in the scene where Henry Frankenstein exposes the monster to daylight for the first time and the monster stands up and reaches upward, Henry Frankenstein says, "Take care, Frankenstein, take care!" Henry Frankenstein, himself, calls his creation "Frankenstein."
