The film is a variation of the plot of Il silenzio degli innocenti (1991), in which a short-statured but ferociously determined and highly clever female protagonist from a rural upbringing has big dreams and aspirations to succeed in the male dominated field of law enforcement, where she faces discrimination and intimidation by her male peers. She is assigned to investigate a missing person's case and enlists the help of a sly, charming criminal mastermind to help solve the case; the female protagonist also has a fear of being eaten by said criminal. The criminal psychoanalyzes the female protagonist and mocks her rural background. At one point in both films, the criminal is forced to wear facial restraints to prevent him from eating others. At first, the female protagonist is not taken seriously but later earns the respect that she deserved all along from her peers and from her criminal ally in the end. Lambs also play a key role in each film.
