In the mid '90s, a combination of factors, including wanting to spend more time with his family, as well as a series of angioplasties and a botched bypass operation, knocked Dana Carvey off the performance circuit for a couple of years. This movie was supposed to mark his comeback to the big screen. But, it got such abysmal reviews that it became his final starring role in a film, and in turn killed his acting career. Carvey later made a cameo in the Adam Sandler comedy Jack and Jill (2011), another Happy Madison production that is regarded as one of the worst films ever made in addition to this one.
