Sir John Gielgud previously played the role of Prospero in Peter Greenaway's L'ultima tempesta (1991). That makes this the first of two movies in which Dame Helen Mirren succeeded Gielgud. She appeared in Gielgud's role in the remake Arturo (2011), which coincidentally also starred Russell Brand.
