In the comics, Batgirl is Barbara Gordon, the daughter of Commissioner Gordon. In this movie she is Barbara Wilson, Alfred's niece. Reportedly, the producers didn't consider her believable as Pat Hingle's daughter, despite that a different actor could play Commissioner Gordon.
