According to writer Robert N. Skir, the name of the city Cybertropolis is a reference to Kryptonopolis from DC Comics' Superman series. He named it as such not knowing that Cybertron's capital city had already been named Iacon. To clear up this inconsistency, it was explained in one of the later episodes that Cybertropolis has actually been built above Iacon as the planet's new capital city.
