John Reid is portrayed as a character in both Bohemian Rhapsody and in Rocketman (2019), the 2019 biopic on Elton John. In Bohemian Rhapsody he is played by Aidan Gillen and in Rocketman by Richard Madden; both actors are well-known for their roles on Il trono di spade (2011). Rocketman was directed by Dexter Fletcher, who also stepped in to finish the directing work on Bohemian Rhapsody after Bryan Singer's departure.
