Tsuburaya embraced the comedic tone Toho wanted for the film and made a conscious effort to appeal to children's sensibilities. However, many of Tsuburaya's staff and crew-members were frustrated with some of his decisions. Assistant effects director Sadamasa Arikawa, recalled that he thought Tsuburaya went overboard and mentioned how the staff was in disbelief at the silly stunts Tsuburaya had Godzilla and Kong do.
