In some versions of the VHS and DVD releases, director David Lynch mostly censored some of the sexual content and nudity on his own accord. Interestingly, even though the scene is in moderate shadows, Lynch insisted that Laura Harring's crotch be blurred during the scene where her character, Rita, strips out of her robe and climbs into bed to join Betty, portrayed by Naomi Watts before they made love. This decision was due to the director finding out about the nude photos of Harring circulating the Internet and disapproves of the matter.
