In the fight between Marlon Brando and Lee J. Cobb Brando is doubled by William Ramoth who was a golden gloves champ under the name Billy Kilroy and who had come to the set to visit bit player Tony Galento ,a fellow boxer. Elia Kazan noticed his resemblance to Brando. Cobb was doubled by a local character called Joseph 'Cowboy' Lucignano.
