The (fake) opening credits for the movie announce that it is "Day 10,909" for the show. That means that Truman is just 48 days short of his 30th birthday. Two days later (day 10,911), an extra reads a newspaper dated Friday, December 13. This places the film in 1996 and therefore, Truman's birthday must have been Sunday 29th January 1967. A "30th Anniversary" Truman Show commemorative plate can be seen hanging in the bar and the interview with Christof celebrates the show's thirtieth year. Truman escapes under the bright midday sun in the early hours of December 16, 1996, Day 10,914 of The Truman Show.
