Kate was going to be recast after her actress' departure but Greg Berlanti persuaded Caroline Dries to introduce a new Batwoman instead. However, they did end up recasting her with Wallis Day in the first half of Season 2 after she had initially auditioned for Ryan, but Dries saw her as a better fit for Kate 2.0 instead.
