According to producer/star Tony Cardoza, the desolate airfield at "elevation 2750 ft." (as seen above the door to the office) featured in the film was the now-defunct Quartz Hill Airfield in Palmdale, California. Pilots who actually used the field remember it for its two landing strips in an "X" formation and that the field was not level but had a noticeable dip in the middle -a feature that is apparent in the film. The airfield is now almost completely covered by upper-middle-class housing.
