The film is the fourth biographical media adaptation about Elvis Presley that's simply titled, "Elvis". The first three adaptations are Elvis, il re del rock (1979), Elvis (1990), and Elvis (2005), respectively. Elvis, il re del rock (1979) and this film are film adaptations, the former being a made-for-television film that was produced by ABC. Elvis (1990) was an ABC television show adaptation that was eventually canceled due to low ratings. Elvis (2005) was a miniseries that aired on CBS.
