Actress Charlotte Hope's auburn hair, pale skin and light eyes match what we historically know of the real Princess Catherine's physical appearance. As the show points out in the second episode, she had English ancestry (John of Gaunt). John of Gaunt had Spanish ancestry (e.g. Eleanor of Castile) and was married to Constance of Castile, also a progenitor of Princess Katherine.
