The show writers and actors went on a "lore bootcamp" hosted at 343 Industries. Where for five days they were given as much Halo backstory, information, mythology, and history as possible. After the bootcamp, many crew members were given additional material to study. Pablo Schreiber is quoted saying the experience was a "shock," and that the full Halo lore was "overwhelming, deep, rich" and "well thought out."
