While reading the books, Daniel Radcliffe was convinced that at least one member of the main trio would die by the end of the series. J.K. Rowling said that when she started writing the books, she had intended to keep all three alive. However, midway through the series, Rowling was going through a difficult time in her life, and seriously considered killing off Ron. However, she later said that she always knew deep down that none of the three would die.
