The house used as filming location for the Dashwoods' cottage in Devon almost exactly fits Jane Austen's description in the novel, having two sixteen-foot-square rooms to either side of a central hall, each with wide windows to the front garden, and a stairway to the back with several turns in the upper gallery. Scenes in the movie appear to have been filmed in the downstairs rooms and stair hall of the same house used for exterior shots. No scenes in the film reveal much to the left of the house (viewers' right) probably because that's where the modern driveway, garage, or power wires are located!
