When he meets the gypsies, Lawrence Talbot (Benicio Del Toro) rescues a woman searching frantically for her daughter. The daughter is named Maria, after Maria Ouspenskaya, who played Maleva in L'uomo lupo (1941) and Frankenstein contro l'uomo lupo (1943).
