During the time George Lucas looked at shooting this in the UK, some film studio space at Pinewood Studios was taken up by the Gerry Anderson ITC TV series Spazio: 1999 (1975). Some production designs for the series meant that some elements for "Star Wars" were revised, and likely resulted in some informal mutual creative and technical inspiration between both productions.
