An old woman trying to put a bottle into a recycling container is visible at the beginning of the movie. An old man does the same thing in "Three Colors: White." In "Three Colors: Red" another woman can be seen doing the same thing; this time, however, it is night and she receives help from Valentine (possibly reflecting that film's theme of "fraternity"). Thus someone finally succeeds in throwing the bottle into the recycling container.
