John Travolta played Doody, one of Danny Zuko's wing men in the Burger Palace Boys, when the show was on Broadway, for a year and a half. (The Burger Palace Boys was the big gang in the Broadway production; they were re-named the T-Birds in the movie.). Travolta was one of the second bananas to Barry Bostwick (and others) who played Danny in the Broadway Production. In a recent Paramount Pictures Profiles interview Travolta admits he learned everything about how to play Danny from Bostwick and others who played the role on Broadway. Ironically Bostwick was passed over by Robert Stigwood who was casting the movie. Another Broadway Danny did make it in though, that was Jeff Conaway; who, ironically, wound up playing Travolta's sidekick Kenickie Murdock.
