Heavily borrows elements from the Disney Channel film Una bionda su due ruote (2001), which is also an adaptation of Twelfth Night: setting it in high school with teenagers, using a sport as the catalyst for the plot, having the Viola character disguise herself as her twin brother rather than a completely separate identity, having the Duke Orsino character provide lessons in exchange for help with courting the Olivia character, and flipping the perceived weakness of femininity in the original play into strong support of women competing equally alongside men.
