Even though James Earl Jones reprises his role as Mufasa, he is 46 years older than Chiwetel Ejiofor, who had been cast as Scar, Mufasa's younger brother. Unlike in the original Il Re Leone (1994), Jones was only 17 years older than Jeremy Irons.
