The first cut of the picture tested poorly in test screenings according to an article published in the 17th October 1993 edition of 'The Los Angeles Times' newspaper. As such, director Mike Figgis conducted re-shoots where several scenes were re-shot in November 1992 filmed with new dialogue scripted by writer Richard Friedenberg.
